About The Author
Elizabeth Howatt
Elizabeth Howatt-Jackman’s career has taken her from investment banking to film production to historical fiction writing, each move guided by curiosity rather than a planned path. In film, she line produced The Incurable Romantic and produced the hit Hating Alison Ashley, along with the candy horror Prey. While working on film financing, she began editing scripts for other filmmakers, which rekindled something she had set aside: her own urge to tell stories.
That urge led her to King Richard III, a figure whose actual history fascinated her far more than the villain Shakespeare created. Elizabeth spent years researching Richard, reading historical documents that contradicted the familiar narrative. She wrote two scripts about him before deciding the story needed the depth only a novel could provide. She does not invent drama because the truth is dramatic enough. Her first novel, ‘Between Love and Loyalty,’ tells the love story between Richard and Anne Neville against a backdrop of war and political chaos. Her second, ‘Monarch,’ covers Richard’s short reign and the forces that destroyed him.
